Coming up Roses

Today my mother and I met with the florist to go over exactly what we need.  I am super excited about the flower! We are keeping the color scheme pretty neutral.  Ivories, creams, blush pinks and some greenery.

My bouquet and the centerpieces will have all these flowers.

My bridesmaid’s bouquets will be made up of blush pink roses and hydrangeas.

Groom and groomsmen, fathers and grandparents will get rose boutonniere,

My mother and soon to be mother-in-law will carry a few long stem white roses tied with ribbon.

Here are some of my eats today:

Breakfast was “fight the hangover oats”:

In the mix 1/2 packet instant Irish oats, 1/2 banana, 1 tbsp pumpkin pure, 1 tsp plain yogurt, handful of raisins and water. I also had two cups of coffee.

Later on  I had a few bites of P-O double’s pizza, and a an apple with some peanut butter mixed with cinnamon and raisins.

For dinner I got a Greek salad take out. It wasn’t very pretty so I didn’t take any pictures.

Now its Jersey Shore Time!

3 out of 5 ain’t bad

Well 3 out of 5 isn’t bad right? I managed to control my night time boredom eating Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Yesterday, I had a splitting headache, so I decided that I could have dessert. That dessert turned into, not one, not two, but three, yes three servings. Typically, this slip would send me into a downward spiral, but I told myself to stop and vowed to get right back on track. And I did. I drank a glass of water and called it a night.

I am still reading Skinny Bitch and have stared using some of their tips.

I cut out coffee! No coffee you say? That is crazy! Crazy but true. Yesterday was my first day coffee free and I had a splitting headache all day. I know it was from caffeine withdrawal. I didn’t like that my body was hurting because I wasn’t having something. I knew having a cup of coffee would help my headache, but that would be feeding the addiction. Why would I want something in my body that I get withdraws from?!?. Instead of coffee, I’m drinking organic caffeine free green tea. It will take some time getting use to, but it’s a good change.

(I am going to treat myself to coffee on Saturdays only. 🙂 My relaxed day).

In following the books tips, I also bough some soy milk and tofu.

Today for breakfast I had plan yogurt mixed with tofu, topped with flaxseed, mixed berries and cereal. I also had my organic cafine free green tea!

Lunch was light; I had a ton of baby carrots with cream cheese and rice cakes.

I have also been trying to increase my water intake. From reading this book I have learned to think of water as a flusher. It flushes out toxins in the body, a healthy detox.

I just had a hand full of mixed nuts and am contemplating what to have for dinner. It’s no fun cooking for 1!

1st Day of Plan Healthy

My first day of getting back on track has gone well so far… well, it isn’t quite night yet, and the boredom hasn’t sunk in. But, so far so good. I decided that the best way to track my progress was to wright everything down. I made a little food journal to log all my meals and exercise.

I start every morning with a multivitamin and a Viactiv Calcium supplement and as always, coffee.

I logged everything I ate today in my new handy dandy food journal. I left a little space at the bottom for my exercise.

Today at the gym, my routine was long, but I took it easy. I plan on working out really hard Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and taking it easy on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Fridays, I will exercise if I feel like it, and Sundays are my favorite, first thing in the AM Body Pump! (More on that little obsession later!)

I forgot to take pictures of my meals earlier to day (I will get the hang of this sooner or later I swear), but I did snap some shots of my dinner.

I made pita pizzas for one! I load a halved pizza with as many veggies I could, carrots, peppers, onions, broccoli and spinach, and sprinkle with a little cheese.

It’s been one day since Pat has started working nights and I’m already lonely.

At least I have American Idol and my beautiful Pita Pizzas to keep me company!

Addicted?

So, my attempt a drinking tea instead of coffee lasted only two days. I didn’t think I was addicted to coffee but I DEFINATLY am. I had splitting head aches both day. The kind of head ache that sits right between your eyes and makes you feel dizzy and out of focus or like you fell down a staircase hitting your head on every step. 

 So now I am sitting, drinking my cup of addiction and loving it.

I know tea has caffeine to, some people say it has more caffeine then coffee, so why the withdrawal effect?

 

I still want to give tea a shot. Im going to slowly ween myself off the coffee by drinking tea one day and coffee the next.

 

I hope it works!

Fall Changes

I started my Sunday morning off with a great sweat session. I love my Sunday morning routine. I headed to the gym, http://www.pumpsfit.com/ ,  around 7:30. I started with a quick elliptical warm up to get my blood pumping. At 8:15 it’s BODY PUMP. This hour long class hits all the right places. Using a weighted bar we do squats, lunges, triceps, biceps, shoulders, back…..basically everything. It’s a  great workout!

At 9:30 is trekking. This class takes place on the treadmill. The instructor takes you from walking and running up hills to lunging, squatting and sidestepping during this half hour class.   The class usually has 5-10 people, but today it was just me! I got a one on one section. It was great. I was tired before the class started and was thinking about backing out,  but I couldn’t once I saw I was the only one who signed up! I felt great after the class and I am glad I pushed through!

For breakfast I made some plain oatmeal mixed with cinnamon an apple and a little peanut butter.

By nature I am a coffee girl, but lately, the coffee just hasn’t been cutting it. A girl who could drink coffee all day can now barely get one cut down.

I decided to try some tea. I have a huge tea case with tons of different flavors. Today I went with the ginger flavored tea. I must say I am very happy with this switch. The tea was sweet (I added 1 splenda pack) enough to keep me wanting more and the warming flavor makes me feel great.

I think I’m going to keep this tea kick up!

Fresh Peaches

My breakfast this morning was very satisfying. I sliced a peach and mixed it with some cottages cheese, vanilla yogurt and  whole grain cereal. I love this combination. Vanilla and peach go so well together and I love how the cottage cheese ads a different texture.

I also had a cup of coffee.

I know some people find cottage cheese to be gross, but I love it. Not only is it tasty but it is relatively low in calories (for the low or no fat versions) and very high in protein, which in good to have in the morning.

I am going into Boston today for works so I did have another helping of cereal so I don’t get hungry before  lunch time. I usually end up walking about 3 miles when I am in the city so I didn’t want to feel famished.
